Re Questions ID: 118
|From:||Mayor Nan Johnston|
Thank you. I don't know how these were construed to be answered by the plan commission. These questions were clearly directed to the persons on the email. Why on earth was this included in the ``public input to the plan commission? It was a complete surprise to me that my questions to staff (and the board copied) were referenced by the planning commission, but not included in the packet. Now I'm called on the carpet by the developer and attorneys who are claiming that I am trying to undermine them. I hope you realize that this has seriously compromised this project. I am beyond angry. The developer feels I am trying to undermine the project, which is NOT my intention at all. These are merely straightforward, simple questions that I gleaned through what I was hearing from affected residents that would need to be addressed to the public during the process. They should NOT have been a surprise to the developer and counsel.
Aldermen Rittman, Wassmer and I met at Nick and Jakes following the commission meeting, where we were photographed by members of the developer's team several times, by different members. They cited the surprise questions I ``submitted to the commission as one of the reasons they are disappointed in the result of tonight's meeting.
Can someone tell me why these questions were submitted to the plan commission? If I had wanted answers from them, I would have copied them.
